Following yesterday's persistent heavy rainfall and rapid snow melt due to Storm Bert, river levels have peaked and are now falling. Further heavy rainfall is expected into Sunday morning, 24 November 2024. River levels are expected to rise again as a result of this rainfall, but are not expected to peak as high. Areas most at risk include Callis Bridge and Charlestown between Burnt Acres Wood Bottom and Calderside including Halifax Road and the Sewage Treatment works.
Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
