Flood Alert

Lower River Ure

River levels remain high, in response to recent heavy rainfall and snow melt, associated with Storm Bert. Flooding is possible today, Sunday 24/11/2024 and tomorrow, Monday 25/11/2024. Areas most at risk include low lying land and local roads in the areas around Masham, Boroughbridge, Aldborough and Bishop Monkton. The River Ure is beginning to fall at Kilgram Bridge, and peaking at Boroughbridge, where levels will stay high overnight. Flood water may remain in fields and on minor roads, however no further significant rainfall is expected overnight. We have been operating flood defences in Boroughbridge, and elsewhere, and will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue Flood Warnings if necessary. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk, drive or cycle through flood water. Take care and consider activating your flood plan if you have one. This message will be updated by 9am on Monday, 25/11/2024, or as the situation changes.
