Flood Alert

Lower Tone and Parrett Moors

Heavy rain and rising river levels this morning may lead to flooding. No property flooding is expected, however flooding of low lying land is possible. The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.51 m and rising slowly. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 5.03 m and also rising slowly. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor, and we will start pumping at Currymoor as soon as the river level allows. Heavy rain is forecast for Sunday, and further flooding is possible throughout the day. River levels are expected to remain high, with spillways continuing to run. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely and staff are clearing weed screens and managing pumping activities. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and don't put yourself or others at risk. This message will be updated by 11:00 AM on 25/11/2024, or as the situation changes.
