Groundwater flooding in villages surrounding Andover

Groundwater levels in the villages surrounding Andover are high and slowly rising. In the last week, the level at Clanville has risen by 60cm. In Appleshaw, a small number of properties are expected to begin experiencing cellar flooding from today (13/01/2025). In Hatherden, a small number of cellars could be affected from Wednesday (15/01/2025). Groundwater is affecting the sewerage network at Penton Mewsey and the main road into Penton Grafton is flooded. Groundwater will emerge in many of the ditches and roads in most villages. During this week, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry. Groundwater levels are expected to continue rising for another week in response to the rain recorded in early January. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please remove any valuables from cellars. If you use pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they can operate. This Flood Alert will be updated by 17:00 on Monday 20/01/2025.
