Flood Alert

Severn Vyrnwy confluence

River levels are rising at the Llanymynech river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is expected overnight tonight, the 23/02/25. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from the Welsh border at Llawnt to Shrawardine near Shrewsbury. Other locations that may be affected include Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley. Minor roads between Maesbrook, Melverley and Pentre start to flood. Predicted peaks:- Llanymynech 3.6m to 3.9m on 24/02/25; Cae Howel 3.7m to 4.1m on 24/02/25. We expect river levels to remain high until Tuesday the 25/02/25. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are clearing weed screens and checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 10:00 on 24/02/25, or if the situation changes.
